Abstract

This workshop provides an opportunity for students to compare the theories of two important evolutionary scientists, J.B. Lamarck and C. Darwin. Students will explore the basic principles behind Darwin's mechanism of natural selection and explain the origin of island bird species. The goal of the activities is  for students to critically examine  Lamarck's and Darwin's models  and to determine why the Darwinian model is more plausible and therefore accepted by scientific community today.
